30-Hour Famine
The Genesis EDGE youth group raised over $6,000 in just 30 hours last year to benefit World Vision, a non- profit organization helping the poorest and neediest children and families worldwide. With the funds we raised, we saved the lives of 17 children in Haiti by providing food for them for a year. This year's funds have been marked for Kenya, where one of the worst droughts ever has plagued the country for over two years. This is worse than the famine in Ethiopia 30 years ago when our parents were teenagers.
Because we have selected this region to support, we will receive a matching grant. This means that for every $1,000 we raise, $5,000 will be donated to World Vision. This year, we hope to have over 75 teenagers participating in the 30-hour fast and staying overnight at Genesis for fund raising, education and prayer. Our goal is to raise over $8,000, which will save over 100 children when the matching funds are added. Won't you help us? Sponsor a Genesis youth either by signing up at church or online at:
