Feeding America

Since 1981, Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest Gleaners Food Bank) of West Michigan, Inc. has served as West Michigan's regional non-profit clearinghouse for saved, donated food on its way from the food industry to churches and charity agencies that assist needy people.

GLEAN

GLEAN is a local program organized by Ada Community Church, in whose parking lot the Ada Farmers' Market is held. 

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Hard Times Café

Hard Times Café is a grassroots empowerment organization that gives residents of the Heartside neighborhood and greater downtown area a forum to address local issues impacting their lives as well as the life of the area. The HTC holds a dinner and meeting every Thursday from 5:30 to 7:15 pm.

Heartside Peace Gardens

The Heartside Downtown Neighborhood Association is the democratic resident organization for the Heartside neighborhood and the downtown area. HDNA actively works to promote resident empowerment and create and protect a community environment that enhances the quality of life for all. The neighborhood association meets every month.

Home Repair Services

Build Cabinets

Home Repair Services is a non-profit organization that empowers lower-income homeowners throughout Kent County. Volunteers are needed to build kitchen and bathroom cabinets on the fourth Saturday of every month from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Contact Stan Greene for more information.

Hope 4 Humanity

What do you hope for? Individuals at the margins of society answer with home, food, water and love. Maybe you do, too. The Genesis serve team will be providing opportunities in each of these four areas in the coming year. Maybe a particular area is near and dear to your heart.

Kids' Food Basket

Kids' Food Basket is a force for attacking childhood hunger in greater Grand Rapids. This organization began over 8 years ago by serving 125 kids each school day through its sack supper program and now serves over 3700 kids each day. Sack suppers are evening meals that provide 1000 calories and 5 food groups--nutrition that's critical to the development of kids' brains and bodies.
