Pastor's Blog: Being a Prophetic Voice

Friends . . . Your response to Sunday’s worship experience has been truly overwhelming. What an incredible gift. The movement of the Holy Spirit was palpable, creating a power and a unity that is unparallel to anything I have ever experienced at Genesis in my four years as your pastor. I am still living into the enormity of this blessing.

Much of my joy takes its shape from the beautiful stories you shared with me over the past few days regarding your own experiences of Sunday’s worship. I’ve chosen a few comments to share with you that touched my heart and captured in words a depth of experience that I find impossible to fully express. I will make more comments available as they come in. My thanks to all who graciously gave me their permission to share.

“Sunday, when the congregation united by holding hands, there was an elderly woman who grabbed my hand. It appeared as if she may have arthritis, but she held my hand so firm and with such conviction. She comes from an era where being gay was definitely taught to be a sin, but she held my hand as if her hand had never been taught this and as if she would rather be doing nothing else. She made a difference in my life. I want to make a difference, Pastor, and that’s all I’m really sure of right now.”     Anonymous [Posted Jan 18]

“Thank you Genesis for giving me a place to celebrate my love for God.”     Anonymous [Posted Jan 18]
